Job Title: Senior Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner

Location: Central London
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday
Salary: £40,000 to £43,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner to join our theatre team within a private hospital setting, specialising exclusively in elective orthopaedic surgery. This is a senior clinical role suited to a highly skilled practitioner who can provide expert scrub support while contributing to team leadership, standards, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as lead scrub practitioner for a range of elective orthopaedic procedures

  • Provide expert support to consultants, anticipating complex surgical requirements

  • Support the day-to-day coordination of orthopaedic lists to ensure smooth theatre flow

  • Mentor and support junior scrub practitioners and new starters

  • Maintain exemplary standards of asepsis, infection control, and patient safety

  • Ensure effective preparation, availability, and care of orthopaedic instruments and implants

  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and service improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)

  • Significant post-registration experience in orthopaedic scrub practice

  • Strong background in orthopaedic surgery

  • In-depth knowledge of orthopaedic instrumentation, implants, and procedures

  • Ability to take a senior role within theatre, supporting leadership and best practice

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and mentorship skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a senior or lead scrub role

  • Experience working within a private hospital setting

  • Participation in quality improvement, training, or audit activities
